Nana Bolashvili

She graduated from the Faculty of Geography-Geology of Tbilisi State University, majoring in engineer-hydrology. She defended her doctorate degree thesis on the topic: "Flood forecasting based on the Theory of Pattern Recognition" (Case studies: Rioni, Enguri and Tskhenistskali rivers).

She held the positions of laboratory assistant, scientist, senior scientist, academic secretary, deputy director in the Vakhushti Bagrationi Institute of Geography in different years. Since 2007 she has been the director of the Institute of Geography.

She has published scientific articles in Georgian, and English languages, is the author and author-compiler of several monographs.

Her Editorial activities include: member of the editorial committee of the National Atlas of Georgia (2012), editor of the Geography of Georgia (2013), editor of the National Atlas of Georgia (2018), editor of the Geographical Atlas of Georgia (2018), editor of the Physical Geography of Georgia (2022), etc.

2000-2002 - She held President Scholarship.

2003-2007 -She worked as a geography teacher at the "Academic" school of "British Connection" of Tbilisi.

Since 2006 she has been cooperating with the National Center for Evaluation and Examinations, both for correcting the test works of entrants and teachers, as well as in the Appeals Commission.

Since 2000 she has been a member of the Scientific and Technological Committee of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. Systematically participates in committee meetings. In 2012, she was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the 2nd International Conference organized by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

Since 2014 she is an expert of the United Nations Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). During 2008-2016 she was the vice-president of the Geographical Society of Georgia named after Alexander Javakhishvili, and from 2016 until now - the president.

She is a member of the International Hydrological Association (2016, membership #15734).

Since 2016 she is a member of the working group at the national level within the framework of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification and the Global Support Program, "Neutral Land Degradation".

She was the Committee member of Europian Biodiversity partnership Biodiversa+ Evaluation of the 2020-2021 joint call.
