Within the framework of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia research grant project № FR-23-13630, which is implemented on the base of Vakhushti Bagrationi Institute of Geography of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, on 10 November 2025 in the city of Ambrolauri at the „Ambrolauri Adult Education Centre“ was held a conference on the topic “The Depopulation of the Rural Settlements in Racha: Spatio-Temporal changes and Modern Problems“.
The conference was attended by members of the research team of the grant project: Nana Nadareishvili (Principal investigator), Sofiko Dzhvarsheishvili (Coordinator), Nana Kvirkvelia and Alexandre Shakhnazarovi. During the event, they presented the ongoing results of the project to representatives of the Racha Regional Administration, the municipalities of Oni and Ambrolauri, non-governmental organizations and local community.
During the conference, the project’s Principal investigator , Professor Dr. Nana Nadareishvili, presented to the audience “Analysis of the Population Dynamics of Racha from 1990 to 2024 and Forecast Variations”, Sofiko Dzhvarsheishvili delivered a presentation on “Demographic Changes and Population Structure of the Racha Region”, Nana Kvirkvelia provided “A Comparative Analysis of the Field Survey Results in the Municipalities of Oni and Ambrolauri” and Alexandre Shakhnazarovi focused on “An Analysis of Migration Factors Affecting the Population of Racha”.
The presentations attracted strong interest from the participants. The meeting continued interactively and a discussion was held around the key issues raised. The hosts warmly thanked the participants for their contributions and expressed their intention to continue collaborating and supporting future research activities.
